Thursday, March 8, 2018 –

Good evening.  We continue with variable cloudy skies tonight along with that chance of passing snow flurries and snow showers.  It was a cold afternoon.  Climate for the Tri-Cities Airport.

Satellite imagery from College of DuPage shows the clouds that continue to produce those snow showers.

Take a look at this GOES Satellite imagery.  You can see the storm system off the New England coast.

Our snow showers will begin to taper down through the night.

8 PM Tonight – We keep the chance of flurries and mountain snow showers.

9 AM Friday – Sunshine returns to the region.

4 PM Friday – We maintain sunshine with clouds off to our west.

Midnight Friday – Clouds and light snow will be possible for some.

3 AM Saturday – Light snow will be possible across southwest Virginia and some of our area mountains.

I do want to point out that there could be a light snowfall accumulation across parts of the area late Friday night into early Saturday morning.  Take a look at the ares that could see al light accumulation.

Look for a chance of scattered rain showers Saturday afternoon as a warm front lift north.

Low pressure is our next weather maker and that will move across the state late Saturday night into early Sunday.

1 PM Sunday – Low pressure will be just to our southwest,  There could be some snow across the mountains and northeast into southwest Virginia as cold air will be in place.

7 PM Sunday – The Tri-Cities still has rain, but there will be snow in blue across parts of southwest Virginia and North Carolina.  We could see a wintry mix across the Tri-Cities through the evening.  This forecast is subject to change and yes, we could all see snow Sunday night.

9:45 PM Sunday – A Wintry Mix and snow will be possible across the area.  There could be accumulations.

4:15 AM Monday – Light snow will be possible for parts of the area.  Stay tuned and updated this weekend on the track of this low pressure system.

We stay below average through next week.
