Monday’s Ask Storm Team 11 question comes from Diane McGuire. She asked: What causes some lightning to be different colors?
Lightning is white, which is composed of all the colors of the rainbow. It’s usually hard to see much other than a bright white flash in a close lightning strike, but dust and moisture in the atmosphere tend to scatter the light allowing us to sometimes see different colors.
