Storm Team 11: Summer Heat Today, Widespread Storm Threat Returns Thursday

Wednesday Forecast

High pressure continues to be our dominant weather maker allowing summer heat to stick around another day. Most of the region will be dry, although a stray shower or storm will be possible during the heating of the day, especially over the Cumberland Plateau. Temperatures will continue to run 10 to 15 degrees above average.

Work Week Outlook

Rain threat returns Thursday as moisture increases ahead of our next weather maker. Showers and storms will likely initiate over the mountains and drift into the Tri-Cities during the afternoon and evening hours.

With more influence from a weather system Friday, expect a slightly better chance for scattered showers and storms Friday afternoon and evening.

Weekend Outlook

A stronger storm system is expected to arrive Saturday, with widespread rain and storms Saturday afternoon and evening. Showers may linger into Sunday morning.
