Storm Team 11: Shower & Storm Threat Returns Late Afternoon/Evening

Thursday Forecast

After a week long sunny set-up, get ready for more noticeable change today, with increasing clouds, followed by an late afternoon and evening threat for showers and storms. A storm complex is moving towards the Tri-Cities from middle TN this afternoon, which will likely encounter more stable air, weakening the system.  With this set-up, there is some uncertainty as to how much the storms will weaken before arriving in the Tri-Cities, but timing and intensity suggests an isolated storm threat in the Tri-Cities later this afternoon into this evening.  Kentucky and parts of SW VA will likely see a better chance for scattered showers and storms.  Be sure to check out the latest Interactive Radar

Late Week Outlook

An approaching cold front arrives Friday, increasing our chance for a few scattered showers and storms during the day with a summer-like feel temperatures approach the low 80’s.

Look into the Weekend

Our weekend weather maker is looking increasingly wet, with rain and storms becoming likely Saturday, with another round of rain and storms Sunday. Heavy rain is possible, which could mean the potential for flooding, a possibility that is being closely monitored.
