Storm Team 11 Forecast:
We are continuing to track the chance for severe weather today across our area. There is an 80% chance for showers and storms today with potentially multiple rounds of storms possible. Our entire area is under an enhanced risk for severe weather today or a level 3 out of 5. Damaging winds are going to be the main threat with these storms, but large hail (quarter size or greater), locally heavy downpours, frequent lightning and isolated tornadoes will be possible. There could be two rounds of storms today, but the morning round of storms (between 8 AM and 1 PM) is looking weaker than the afternoon/evening round of storms (between 4 PM and 10 PM). We do have the potential to even see a few breaks of sunshine late this afternoon, which could help fuel these storms. Please stay weather aware today and have a way to get weather alerts! Today’s high is 77 degrees.
Wind Advisories and a High Wind Warning will also remain in effect today across the area. Those under the Wind Advisory could see winds gust up to 45 mph while those under the High Wind Warning could see winds gusting up to 60 mph.
Tonight there is still an 80% chance for showers and storms. The second round of storms will likely be strong. These storms could bring heavy downpours, gusty winds, hail and isolated tornadoes. Overnight tonight lows will fall into the upper 30s to low 40s. There is the potential for a light wintry mix to develop tomorrow morning over the higher elevations.
Monday is looking much cooler with a high of only 56 degrees. There is a 30% chance for a light wintry mix for the highest elevations early and a few scattered showers elsewhere before skies clear late.
Tuesday and Wednesday will be mild in the mid to upper 70s with partly sunny skies.
There is a 20% rain chance on Thursday with another round of storms possible Friday.
Have a great day and stay safe!
