Rain/sleet, snow and wind forecast for the area tonight, Wednesday


Rain moves into the area tonight.  Rain could begin across parts of the region as sleet. 

Moisture is quickly moving back into the region tonight which will bring locally heavy rains back to the region with a chance of wintry precipitation for some.

Flood Watches have been issued for tonight through Thursday morning for eastern Kentucky and parts of southwest Virginia.

Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories have been issued for tonight through Wednesday.  Snow, sleet and freezing rain are possible across western North Carolina and north into areas of Virginia.

WInds will also pick up across thre region.  High Wind Warnings and Wind Advisories have been issued for parts of the area from tonight through Wednesday.

Rain could be locally heavy tonight and then again tomorrow night.  Take a look at the potential rainfall through 10:00 a.m. Thursday.

The mountains of western North Carolina and parts of southwest Virginia could see a light snowfall overnight into Wednesday,

Freezing rain and sleet could also cause ice accumulations across parts of the region overnight into Wednesday.  Drive with caution if you are heading east or northeast of the Tri-Cities.

We will see scattered showers early Thursday followed by some afternoon sunshine.  Rain is back in the forecast for Friday and Saturday.

Dry air will try to move into the region Sunday afternoon into Monday.
