Flooding in Greene County causes schools to close

Greene County, Tenn. (WJHL) - Greens County Schools closed at 11PM on Tuesday due to flooding roads.

Heavy rain from the week before caused roads to flood and Tuesday's rain has added more water to the roads. Officials say that they wanted kids to get home before the flooding got worse in the lower lying areas.

Emergency Management officials say that they've seen some areas like Pottertown Rd have more than seven feet of rain, spilling into the roadways. EMS closed Pottertown Road Tuesday afternoon.

If you are driving and see standing water, turn around.
