Storm Team 11 Starwatch: Monday, July 9th - Sunday, July 15th 2018

Quiet in the Tri-Cities, but find out where there is a partial solar eclipse!

Happy Monday!

Welcome to the 33rd edition of StormTeam 11 Starwatch! This is a blog that will be posted weekly that will list events happening in the sky this week!

Monday, July 9th - Sunday, July 15th 2018

Friday, July 13th 2018

A partial solar eclipse will be seen from southern Australia and northern Antarctica. The image below shows where you would have to be located to see the eclipse! During this eclipse, only part of the Sun will be blocked by the Moon. Remember, a partial solar eclipse happens when the Sun, Moon and Earth are not perfectly aligned. The Moon is still in between the Sun and the Earth, blocking part of the Sun's light but not all of it. The Moon puts its shadow on the Earth. Even during a partial solar eclipse, you should never look directly at the Sun as it could damage your eyes!
