Friday, December 7th 2018 Midday

Storm Team 11 Forecast:

Good Afternoon!

Today is going to be a dry day with plenty of cloud cover and a high of 43 degrees. Tonight expect to see variable cloudy skies with lows in the mid to upper 20s.

There is a 40% chance for a wintry mix turning to snow showers tomorrow, but this wintry mix generally doesn't move in until tomorrow evening/night. Tomorrow's high is 41 degrees.

Once this system moves into the area, it stays here throughout the day Sunday and even lingers into Monday.

There is a 90% chance for precipitation on Sunday with a brief wintry mix turning to snow for the entire area.

Winter Storm Watches and Warnings go into effect tomorrow night and continue through Monday midday. Winter Storm Warnings will go into effect for parts of Western North Carolina as well as Grayson County in Southwest Virginia, while Winter Storm Watches will go into effect for the Tri-Cities area, the TN mountains and portions of Southwest Virginia.

As of right now, even the Tri-Cities area could see 4-8" of snowfall through Monday, with 8-12" (and even spots of up to 16") over Western North Carolina.

Make sure to stay up-to-date as the forecast will continue to change as details become clearer.

Have a great day!
