In Washington County, Virginia, Sheriff Fred Newman is leading a triple murder investigation and answer questions from people in Mendota.

More than 70 people came out to the Mendota Community Center Tuesday night for a meeting hosted by the sheriff.

Many who came wanted to know the specifics about the case.

Commonwealth Attorney Josh Cumbow said many of the facts can’t be revealed just yet.

“Most of the people in this community have been here all their lives or at least many, many years,” Cumbow said. “They all know one another. Something like this is not going to drive the community apart.”

The sheriff asked people with information to contact his office.
