Changes could soon be on the way for Interstate 81 in Virginia, and people can make their voices heard.
The Virginia Department of Transportation is holding a meeting this month about a project of the interstate. According to VDOT, the meeting will be held Thursday, Feb. 7, at the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center in Abingdon.
VDOT says their goal is to develop a frontage road system that will maintain efficient movement between Bristol and Abingdon.
Officials add that the purpose of the meeting is to give citizens an opportunity to review the project, which involves Washington County, Abingdon, and VDOT.
Leaders say that comments are being accepted, and welcomed, from the public.
