HAWKINS COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL)- Three horses found ’emaciated’ in Hawkins County are now starting the recovery process in the care of a local farm animal humane society.

According to Hooves & Feathers Farm Animal Humane Society, they received a call from the Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday about three horses that were in need of help.

The post on Facebook said the horses were ‘extremely emaciated’ and had to be taken to UT for further treatment.

When we spoke to them over the phone Friday, officials at Hooves & Feathers said the horses had just returned from UT and were starting to improve.

They also added that it could take 3-5 months for these three horses to fully recover.
