State troopers say a Telford woman is now behind bars after she reportedly struck a Greene County deputy’s cruiser.  The crash happened around 2:00 a.m. on U.S. Highway 11E and Claude Simmons Road in Washington County.
The Greene County deputy and his partner were transporting a juvenile inmate for medical reasons.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol says Angela Gillis, age 45, was traveling north on Highway 11E, in a 2015 Dodge Minivan, when she attempted to make a left turn, but failed to yield to a Greene County deputy who was traveling south.

Gillis, according to a report, struck the left front tire and side of the car — pushing the car off the road and into a field.

State troopers say a deputy and the juvenile inmate were transported to Johnson City Medical Center for treatment.

Gillis has been charged with DUI and failure to yield.

One of Gillis’ passengers, 57-year-old Larry Lowe, was charged with DUI by consent.
