The Tennessee Department of Correction is no longer sending offenders to the John R. Hay House, a community corrections facility in Kingsport.

According to a TDOC spokesperson, the Hay House’s board of directors decided not to renew its contract with the state.

The spokesperson said offenders will be sent to other housing providers in the area instead.

It is unclear why the Hay House decided to end its contract with TDOC.

The United Way of Greater Kingsport gave more than $80,000 to the Hay House in 2018 according to the organization’s website
