Remote Area Medical (RAM) will bring their mobile clinics for free medical care to Smyth County, VA this weekend, May 17 through 19.
RAM provides free high-quality dental, vision and medical services to underserved and uninsured people.
The clinic will be located at the Mountain Empire Airport at 8223 Lee Hwy.
Patient parking will open no later than midnight on Friday, May 17. Patients will be given tickets, typically around 3 a.m. and will be served in numerical order according to the ticket number.
This process will repeat for Saturday and Sunday.
Services will include dental cleanings, dental fillings, dental extractions, dental x-rays, eye exams, eyeglass prescriptions, free eyeglasses, women’s health care, general medical exams, childhood vaccines, adult vaccines, Narcan training, hearing exams and prevention education.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Smyth County has an estimated population of 30,000 people. Roughly 11% do not have health insurance.
