President Trump rally VIP ticket holders describe the ‘honor’ of hearing him speak

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) – Of those thousands of people who attended President Trump’s Make America Great Again Rally – some of them had VIP tickets.

Some of those VIP guests stood right behind the president during his rally at Freedom Hall.

News Channel 11’s Justin Soto spoke to two of those people who got the once in a lifetime experience.

It’s not everyday you can be anywhere near a sitting president – let alone hear him speak in our own community.

For the people we met – it’s an experience they’ll never forget.

Just less than 24 hours ago- Kingsport Army Veteran and member of Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn’s Veteran Advisory Board, Ernie Rumsby, was in the same room as President Trump.

“They said we have a VIP ticket with your name on it, and I said okay that sounds really good,” Rumsby said.

He said someone from President Trump’s team then approached him.

“President Trump likes veterans and would you be willing to sit behind on the risers,” he was told.

Shirley Carrier from Bluff City has a patriotic tree in her home with President Trump memorabilia.

“It’s go all of the stuff on it. It’s got all the passports, the land of the beautiful and the free,” Carrier said.

She was standing right behind Rumsby, also with VIP tickets.

“Morgan Griffith the representative from Virginia gave it to my friend Becky Mattany,” Carrier said.

It was an experience they both feel united our community.

“It was just great you know hearing people talk and listening to him. It’s just wonderful. The president of the US in Johnson City, TN that was quite an honor for us,” Carrier said.

Rumsby told us,”you got to see people coming together and sometimes you don’t see that often.”
