KINGSPORT, TN (WJHL) — A Kingsport man wanted on aggravated animal cruelty charges has turned himself in.

Benjamin Vaness came to the Kingsport Justice Center Tuesday morning and turned himself in on two outstanding warrants for two counts of aggravated animal cruelty.

Vaness was booked into the Kingsport City Jail and was released after posting a $6,000 bond.

According to Kingsport Police, officers responded to a home on Cooks Valley Road on Saturday after a concerned citizen complained the front door had been partially open for about a week.

When officers arrived, they found the door was open and there was a ‘putrid odor’ coming from inside.

Officers would then discover what appeared to be remains of a dog in a back bedroom.

They also discovered the skeleton of a second dog in the backyard.
