Johnson City man arrested for allegedly attacking his girlfriend with a knife

A Johnson City man is facing charges of aggravated assault and drug possession for allegedly attacking his girlfriend with a knife. 

Johnson City police responded to the Johnson City Medical Center while a woman was receiving treatment from a domestic abuse incident, according to a release. 

The victim told police her boyfriend, Michael Burton, 36, attacked her with a knife. 

After obtaining a warrant, officers found Burton at a homeless camp near West Market St. and North State of Franklin Rd. where he was arrested. 

After a search, prescription pills were found in his possession that were not prescribed to him. 

Burton is currently being held in the Washington County Detention Center on a $21,000 bond. 

He is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday, May 22 at 1:30 p.m.
