A Johnson City man now faces an aggravated assault charge after police say he attacked another person with a hammer.

According to the Johnson City Police Department, officers responded to Lamont Street on Thursday and discovered a fight in progress.

Investigators say Craig Reed, 59, reportedly struck a man inside an apartment with a hammer. Police say the victim was able to block the hit and only received minor injuries.

Reed’s arraignment is expected today in Washington County Court.
