JCPD: Kingsport man arrested after attempting to rob person at gunpoint

A Kingsport man with the last name Bristol has been arrested in Johnson City after attempting to rob someone at gunpoint, according to police. 

Johnson City Police responded to a call early Tuesday morning after a victim said they were being threatened with a gun at 915 E. Myrtle Avenue.

When officers arrived on scene, a man took off running. Officers ran after the man and said they saw him throw a gun and package.

The man was identified as Deonte Bristol, 22, of Kingsport. After detaining Bristol, officers found the weapon and package, which contained 90 grams of marijuana. Officers later discovered the gun Bristol used in the robbery had been reported stolen. 

Bristol was charged with aggravated robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and evading arrest, among other charges.

He is being held in the Washington County Detention Center on a $75,000 bond. Bristol is scheduled to appear in court later today.
