Knox Creek Fire Department confirms one person died during a structure fire Friday night in Hurley, Virginia.
Assistant Fire Chief Zach Dotson tells News Channel 11 that crews arrived on scene in the Paw Paw Community around 10 p.m. Friday night to a home fully engulfed in fire.
The road leading into the community was closed until 4 a.m. Saturday morning.
Dotson says one person was killed in the fire and that the name of the victim has not been released at this time due to the pending investigation. Virginia State Police is handling the investigation of the fire, according to Dotson.
Knox Creek was assisted by Big Rock and Grundy fire departments, along with Rescue Unit #33, Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office officials and state police.
