Firefighters respond to fire involving scrap metal at Omnisource in Johnson City

JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) – It took local firefighters a few hours to extinguish a business fire in Johnson City.

The fire was reported around 6:45 a.m. at Omnisource located at West Market Street.

Johnson City Fire Department responded to the business’ shredding building in a large scrap metal pile. 

No injuries have been reported, but local firefighters told us it took a few hours to put out the fire because scrap metal had to be removed in order to access the fire.  

News Channel 11 was told crews at OmniSource assisted firefighters by using heavy equipment to remove the scrap metal.
