The Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency said late Wednesday the bear spotted in the DENSO manufacturing facility late Tuesday has been captured.
TWRA said Blount County Animal Control immobilized the bear using a dart filled with tranquilizing drugs.
A TWRA officer in Blount County requested that the bear be placed in a live trap. The bear will be relocated Thursday.
TWRA had been working to capture a bear after it walked through the Maryville DENSO plant Tuesday night.
Maryville police say the bear wasn’t inside the plant when they arrived after the reports Tuesday but it was seen heading into the woods.
The TWRA set a trap in an attempt to catch the black bear.
A release Wednesday from DENSO said the bear was not aggressive and DENSO immediately called local authorities for assistance.
“Employees have been notified of the situation and are told to use caution when entering and leaving the facility,” the DENSO statement said. “With employee & public safety being our top priority, we’ll continue to work with local authorities to help ensure the bear is relocated in a safe and timely manner.”
