There are just a few days left to get your Chik-Fil-A fix on People’s Street.
According to the store’s operator, Tim Burchfield, the restaurant will close April 13th and should reopen in early September.
Burchfield says it will be a new “state of the art” restaurant.
“This building is old and tired like a lot of us and it needs to be updated,” Burchfield said.
The new development will cost around $3 million and add 2,000 square feet to the facility.
The kitchen will also double in capacity.
“I’m just looking forward to having a kitchen where people don’t bump into each other every day and it’s spacious enough for us to prepare the food,” said Burchfield, “and to be able to prepare more than what we’re able to do right now.”
The new drive-thru will feature a canopy, as well as heaters, cooling units and a door to give employees access to customers in line.
It will also wrap around the remodeled parking lot giving it more space for vehicles.
Burchfield says this will improve the flow of traffic.
“We’ll be able to get people on and off the lot quickly,” he said.
