Business offers discount to nurses after Sen. Walsh’s comments

One local business is hoping to give back to area nurses after comments made by a senator from Washington.

Scott Bowers of Elizabethton Escape tells News Channel 11 that nurses will receive a discount when they come and play “Jurassic Island” at the business, located in downtown Elizabethton.

The decision comes days after Washington Sen. Maureen Walsh made comments saying, nurses, “probably play cards for a considerable amount of the day,” according to a report from The Spokesman-Review.

“You work hard, are underappreciated and apparently misunderstood on top of that,” Elizabethton Escape said in a Facebook post.

The discount lasts until May 15.
