Members of the community and Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office rolled up their sleeves Friday to give the gift of life.
They donated blood at the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office in honor of Sgt. Steve Hinkle.
Hinkle, who served with the sheriff’s office for 27 years, was shot in the line of duty on February 23 and died three days later.
“It’s the least we can do is to come back and give a little bit for what he did for us and for what he did for our community,” said Capt. Joseph Strickler, who donated blood on Friday.
Hinkle’s son, Audie Hinkle, said he knows his father would be honored to have this event in his memory to help others.
