ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. (WJHL) — Starting June 11, the Betsy Book Bus will be making its second annual tour of Elizabethton to give out free books to children and teens.

The bus will be traveling to 13 different neighborhoods and programs.

The schedule of stops can be found on the Betsy Book Bus Facebook page here.

The program was started in an effort to combat a decrease in literacy that children typically experience over the summer.

Books of all reading levels can be found on the bus.

All the books are donated and each child can keep three books.

The team responsible for this program is made up of Carla Whiles, Tammy Markland and Becky Wagner.
