Randy Boyd drops out of the Knoxville Republican gubernatorial debate

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) - Tennessee gubernatorial candidate Randy Boyd has dropped out of the Republican governors debate, set for July 22 in Knoxville.

Boyd said he will not be able to attend the debate due to a scheduling conflict. We reached out to Boyd's campaign to determine what the conflict is, but no reason was given.

The debates are scheduled to take place on July 22 at Pellissippi State Community College. A debate between Democratic candidates Karl Dean and Craig Fitzhugh will begin at 8 p.m., followed by the Republican debate between Beth Harwell, Bill Lee and Diane Black at 9 p.m. A 30-minute post-debate show will follow each debate.

The debates will be air on ABC Tri-Cities, WJHL.com and the ABC Tri-Cities and WJHL Facebook pages.
