Tanner Davis was in a three-way tie for the lead coming into Sunday and he needed to battle in a one-hole playoff against Chance Taylor, but it was Davis who earned the Tillinghast Invite championship Sunday afternoon at the Johnson City Country Club.
Davis knew he had the skills to seize the title, but he mentioned how tough it was to come in first.
“Golly, don’t really know what to say to be honest, it’s been a long time coming for sure. I’ve worked hard on my game and I knew I could do it, it was just a matter of doing it, so it feels really good,” Davis said. “Honestly just put it in the fairway and give myself a chance, I was pretty nervous to be honest, so it felt good to hit a good tee shot.”
