Johnson City native and ETSU golfer Jack Rhea qualifies for the U.S. Amateur Championship

 Qualifying for the 2018 U.S. Amateur is underway at 96 qualifying sites across the U.S., and in Canada, Puerto Rico and Mexico.

     Today 3rd time was the charm for Johnson City native Jack Rhea, who qualified for the 118th U-S Amateur championship scheduled for August 13-19, at Pebble Beach golf club and Spyglass Hill golf course in Pebble Beach, Ca.
   The ETSU golfer had failed in 2 other attempts but this time Rhea shot a 76 and 67 at Twin Orchard in Chicago, Il to become one of 270 out of 7-thousand 463 entries that will start in the event. After match play it's narrowed down to 64.
   Last golfer to qualify for the U.S. Amateur from our area was Kingsports Brandon Worley in 2016.
