Bristol Motor Speedway hosted the third leg of the seven-city, seven-day Hot Rod Power Tour on Monday. The event featured a wide variation of classic and modern cars, along with food and memorabilia vendors.
One difference between Bristol and the other stops is spectators had a chance to drive the oval at the Last Great Colosseum. Hot Rod Magazine Events Manager Harrison Card said this experience was a once in a lifetime opportunity.
“It’s been a really great day here at Bristol, bringing it to the oval track this time, we were able to get some pace laps in,” Card said. “We got guys that are getting a chance to drive at the oval here, probably for the first time for most of them, it’s the first time we’ve been to this track.”
Card also added he wanted fans to have an experience they might not get from a normal race weekend at Bristol.
“We’ve been to the drag strip before, but never on the oval. People come in here and they’re just amazed with how it big it is, how majestic and everything. It’s really cool we give them a chance to be here in the infield and kind of walk around. The stuff if you came here for a race weekend you might not necessarily get to see.”
