WASHINGTON, D.C.- Gate City’s Mac McClung hasn’t been at Georgetown long, but he certainly knows how to make an introduction.
The former Blue Devil has been putting on some familiar high flying performances in his first few Kenner Summer League games in Washington D.C. this weekend. That includes a 39 point performance this Sunday.
Fans have been packing the gym to catch a glimpse of the future Hoya with a new sense of excitement building for a Georgetown hoops recruit that hasn’t been seen since Allen Iverson. So far, Mac has lived up to the billing from his viral dunks from this past season.
“I’ve seen a lot of Youtube with Mac,” said Rich Chvotkin, Georgetown’s men’s basketball radio announcer. “But, obviously, he took his team to the state championship. There’s no question he can play, he can shoot the three, he gets to the rim, he can dunk and he plays on-ball defense very well.”
“I was always watching his Youtube videos during lunch, his dunk videos,” said Andrew Guerrera, a Georgetown fan. “They were pretty insane. I really would love to see Mac McClung do some of that stuff this year with Georgetown.”
“This kid was like everything as advertised,” said another Georgetown fan. “I guess he had millions of followers and viewers with his highlights reel. But it’s more than a highlight reel, because he can do so much, he can do everything.”
