ETSU golfer Hee Ying Loy prepares to tee off in the inaugural Augusta National Women’s Amateur

ETSU golfer Hee Ying Loy will make history next month when she joins 72 other women in the Augusta National women’s amateur from April 3rd thru the 6th.

She was chosen as one of the 72 best golfers in the world who will compete over 54 holes of stroke play, with a cut to 30 players taking place after 36 holes.
The final round will take place at Augusta National on Saturday, April 6th and will feature the competitors who made the cut.
Ying, who’s had a fantastic season and career for the Bucs didn’t thing her numbers were enough to get here into this prestigious field.

“It was just amazing when they give ma call and they say I’m invited and then and being one of the picks of the chairman just feels amazing and when they announced the tournament I knew I didn’t not stand a chance for it because my ranking wasn’t high enough but when I get the call this year in January it was like really yeah.”
“We didn’t feel like she would be in contention to receive this invitation so it was a shock when they call and announced the committee had given her an invitation to this based off the body of work she had last year which is phenomenal.”
