MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (July 22, 2015) – Cycling Head Coach Zach Nave announced the signing of three new cyclers to Milligan College’s 2015-16 recruiting class.
Fletcher Lydick (Lawrenceville, Ga./Georgia Connections Academy), David Duquette (Gastonia, N.C./Forestview HS) and Zoe Mullins (Winter Garden, Fla./Lake Brantley HS) have committed to becoming Buffs this upcoming season.
Lydick races for United Healthcare of Georgia, and is a Category 1 racer on the road. Lydick has had outstanding results regionally. In 2014, Lydick finished fifth at the Grant Park criterium, 10th at the 17-18 national road race, and he won the Georgia State criterium championship. Lydick started cycling when he was nine years old after watching the Tour de France. Fletcher plans to race road, cyclocross and possibly track, while studying business management.
Duquette’s father introduced him into cycling, and when David got on one of his dad’s old bikes he fell in love with the sport. Duquette has had consistent results throughout his cycling career, including a big win in Europe while riding for the national team, three additional top-5 results in Europe, and three top-5 finishes at the Tour de L’abitibi. Duquette plans to race road and possibly cyclocross, while studying in Milligan’s recently introduced mechanical engineering program.
Mullins started riding at age 11 when her father found a bike for her to try, and she immediately fell in love with it. Mullins currently races for Twenty 16, and has had a seven-year career packed full of outstanding results. Some of Mullins top results include seventh in the 2015 junior 17-18 National Road Race, seventh in the 2015 junior 17-18 National Criterium, 10th in the 2015 junior 17-18 National Time Trial, third in the 2012 junior 15-16 National Time Trial, eighth in the 2012 junior 15-16 National Criterium, fourth in the 2011 junior 13-14 National Road Race, fourth in the 2011 junior 13-14 National Time Trial and sixth in the 2011 junior 13-14 National Criterium. Mullins is also a 10-time junior state champion in Florida. While Mullins plans to focus on road racing at Milligan, she also plans to race track, mountain and cyclocross. Zoe is planning on majoring in sports administration and minoring in Spanish at Milligan.
“It is awesome to have Fletcher, David, and Zoe joining the team for this fall,” said Coach Nave. “They each have great character and personality, solid work ethic, show great dedication, and have a wealth of experience that will be a huge benefit to our team on and off the bike.”
