JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (October 15, 2015) – In front of the best fans in the Southern Conference, ETSU women’s basketball hosted “Holding Court…Brooks Edition” on Thursday night inside Brooks Gym.
The interactive practice featured fans across all age groups working with the 2015-16 Bucs in preparation for the upcoming season. Fans were treated to free pizza before the practice and the first 400 fans received “The Gold Standard” t-shirts courtesy of Johnson City Honda.
“It was a lot of fun to interact with fans of all ages and its just a small way to say thank you to what we believe is the greatest fan base in the SoCon,” said head coach Brittney Ezell.
There were also plenty of giveaways such as signed miniature ETSU basketballs, two basketball jerseys and a few lucky fans received season tickets for the upcoming year. One lucky fan earned the ultimate experience being selected as an honorary coach for one of the Bucs home games. The winner is able to sit in on the pre-game meal, sit on the bench with the team during the game and listen to what Ezell has to say to her team during halftime and after the game.
Fans were encouraged to participate in the night practice for the Bucs as fans young and old were assisting with drills such as the 3-man weave along with running the Buccaneer offensive and defensive plays.
Not only was the music throughout practice keeping the fans tuned into the action but Ezell was roaming around Brooks Gym with the microphone explaining certain drills, introducing the newcomers and keeping the fans entertained the entire night.
“Hopefully as we continue to grow as a program this event will grow as well and get even bigger,” said Ezell.
There is still an opportunity to check out your 2015-16 Bucs as the annual hoops celebration “Bluenaza” is next Thursday, Oct. 22 at 7p.m. inside Brooks Gym. The Bucs begin play on Nov.7 when they take on Milligan College in an exhibition contest before starting the 2015-16 campaign at home against UNC-Asheville on Nov. 13.
