Cloudland names Glenn White new head football coach

The Cloudland football program will have a new coach this season after longtime coach Mike Lunsford retired a few months ago, and it’s a familiar face from this area.

Former Happy Valley and Unicoi Co. coach Glenn White was named the Highlanders new coach this morning. The 57 year old Erwin native had been an assistant coach under Lunsford the last 2 season.
White said he wanted to coach one more time before hanging up the whistle and he knows he has big shoes to fill, replacing a coach that won nearly 250 games.

“I’m looking forward to the opportunity to lead a program again I feel like I’m inheriting a very solid program that’s been solid for years it’s kind of the been the program of Orr, Oats and Lunsford so my goal is too keep that tradition going. It’s an honor to follow him it’s challenge to follow him but there is no doubt in my mind that we are going to continue his winning ways and we are going to continue the winning program here.”
