Cloudland football and girls head basketball coach Mike Lunsford retires after 25 seasons

Another legendary coach in the Tri-Cities has decided it was time to hang up his whistle.
A couple of months ago Greeneville’s coach resigned and today Cloudland head coach Mike Lunsford told me he was retiring.

Lunsford, the most tenured coach in the area was on the sidelines for 25 years, 18 at Cloudland and 7 at Hampton.
He had a career record of 223-66, the 3rd best in Northeast Tennessee…his conference winning percentage was over 91 percent.
He had 23 winning seasons, 6 of them undefeated, 24 playoff berths and he advanced to the state championship game one time.
He also served as the girls basketball coach at Cloudland as well.
