Bucs getting set to face Vols for the first time on the gridiron

KNOXVILLE, TN-  After a week of hype it’s time to play the game on Saturday when the Tennessee Volunteers host the ETSU Buccaneers inside Neyland Stadium.

This will be the first time in school history that these two teams have met on the football field. The last time ETSU knocked off a Power 5 conference team was in 1987 when they beat NC State 29-14.

Players on this ETSU team are too young to remember that, so they’re excited to make their own memories on Saturday.

“It’s kind of a cool feeling to be from small hometown and get to go play college and play at the University of Tennessee,” said Asley Haynes, a senior offensive lineman from Cloudland. “You see orange everywhere but since we brought the program back you are starting to see a lot more blue and gold. Now, I’m not saying UT is going to be a blue and gold stadium on Saturday, it will be way more orange than blue and gold. But I think we’ll have a pretty fan base there. I’ve talked to a lot of students that will be down there.”
