News Channel 11 and our parent company, Nexstar Media Group, love to spotlight the Remarkable Women in our area who go above and beyond for their communities. Remarkable Women is part of a nationwide initiative to honor women’s influence on public policy, social progress and quality of life.

Johnnie Mae Swagerty was named our local winner of the Remarkable Women initiative. Swagerty was selected out of four finalists after over 100 impactful were submitted. She was awarded $1,000 to donate to a charity of her choice, which she said would be New Vision Youth Group.
