Woman arrested for embezzling money from First Tennessee Bank

Johnson City Police Department officers arrested a Kingsport woman on theft charges Thursday, following a report of embezzlement at First Tennessee Bank, 2112 N. Roan St.

According to a JCPD news release, the bank reported the embezzlement on May 13, saying that Debra Ann Paton, 54, of Kingsport, filed valid expense claims for employees and said she filed the claims a second time and pocketed the money.

Paton was charged with theft of property over $1,000 and was taken to the Washington County Detention Center.

She was being held on $10,000 bond and was scheduled to be arraigned in Sessions Court June 22 at 1:30 p.m.Copyright 2015 WJHL. All rights reserved.
