Work up an appetite at Dollywood
On your adventure to Dollywood you can count on working up an appetite. The theme park aims to please even the pickiest eater.
Here are a few stats on the food sales at Dollywood.
If you placed all the french fries sold at the park in a year end to end they would stretch from Dollywood to Hollywood. That’s more than 2200 miles and totals more than 28 million individual fries.
Now on to the chicken tenders, people gobbled up more than 539,000 of them each year. If they were placed end-to-end they would stretch from Dollywood to Greeneville, TN.
The annual park sales on biscuits is nearly 234,000. Fried chicken is also a hit with about 118 pieces sold each year.
After any meal, no matter how full you are, you have to enjoy something sweet. News Channel 11’s Kenny Hawkins found out how to whip up one of Dollywood’s signature treats. Watch the clip above for details.”
Klondike Katie and Cinderella, the oldest attractions at the park
Did you know that Dollywood Express is the oldest attraction at the park. It’s also the only attraction without a computer.
A train called “Klondike Katie” is the original ride at the park. It arrived in the region at a time when the park was named Rebel Railroad (1961). It’s the only ride that everyone can ride – from babies to older ones.
Cinderella is the other train that runs at Dollywood. Both trains are maintained by workers at a machine shop located inside Dollywood. The building houses train parts. Since the trains are so old, workers make the parts for steam engines inside the shop.
