Winter chill has skiers headed back to the slopes

(WJHL) – The on again and off again winter is back on and that means skiers are back on the mountain in western North Carolina.

Plenty of winter lovers finally put on the skis and made some runs and Beech Mountain.

The resort has had to close two times already this season because of warm and rainy weather, but hopes are high that old man winter is here to stay this year.

“We’re putting the snow out like you wouldn’t believe there is so much snow, we’ve gone from an 8-20 inch base we no have a 14 to 40 inch base, we’re just we will pump 35 hundred gallons every minute converting that to snow,”  said Beech Mountain’s Gil Adams.

The resort still has some of it’s busiest holidays ahead. those include Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Presidents Day.
