TAZEWELL COUNTY, VA (WJHL) – Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal crash that happened Monday afternoon in Southwest Virginia on Route 460 and Route 820.
Officials from VSP say around 4:20 p.m. a logging truck made a u-turn on Route 460 and pulled out on to the right shoulder to complete the turn.
According to police, as the tractor-trailer merged into eastbound lanes, it pulled out in front of a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee rear-ended the tractor-trailer.
The driver of the Jeep, Michael Reynolds, 68 of Tazewell, was transported to Tazewell Community Hospital where he later died.
The driver of the tractor-trailer, Brandon Blevins, 31 of Tazewell, Va., was not injured in the crash.
Blevins was charged with failure to yield the right of way. The crash remains under investigation.
