Virginia Supreme Court denies confederate flag appeal

DANVILLE (WSLS 10) –  The Virginia Supreme Court  will not hear an appeal regarding the removal of the confederate flag.

The announcement is a blow in the fight to return the flag to the Sutherlin Mansion in Danville.

The Heritage Preservation Association and others started the lawsuit after city council adopted an ordinance that only permits certain flags to fly on city property.

The association has 14 days to file for a rehearing.
