U.S Marshal, deputies search for inmate, Timothy England, who escaped Washington County, TN jail


JONESBOROUGH, TN (WJHL) – Federal and local authorities are searching for an inmate, in jail on federal charges, who escaped Tuesday morning for the Washington County, TN detention facility.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office says Timothy England escaped from jail Tuesday morning.

England, 37, was in jail awaiting trial on charges of bank robbery and violating his federal supervised release.

England is described as standing about 5’8” and weighing about 145 pounds. He was last seen wearing his burgundy inmate suit. He also has a tattoo on his right upper chest and a tattoo on his left upper arm.

England is known to have ties in East Tennessee and Blount County, TN.

Authorities say, England has a history of violence and should be considered dangerous. If you see him, authorities advise to not approach him and call 911 immediately.

Meanwhile, authorities are trying to determine how England escaped the jail facility in Jonesborough.

They also say they can not release the specifics of how England escaped due to the ongoing investigation but will release it ones the investigation is complete.

“We are working together with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI, as well as other local agencies to make the apprehension of this fugitive a top priority.” said Jimmy Fowler, U.S. Marshal for the Eastern District of Tennessee.

Earlier this year, News Channel 11 reported England was arrested and charged with robbing a Greene County bank.

In addition to the back robbery charge England now faces additional escaped charges,

According to Greene County Sheriff Pat Hankins, England stole $20,000 from Consumer Credit Union on December 10, 2015 that’s located on West Andrew Johnson Highway in Mosheim, TN.
