Trial underway for Johnson City father accused of selling daughters to sex film ring

GREENEVILLE, TN (WJHL) – The trial of a man accused of selling his children to a sex film ring is now underway in federal court in Greeneville. Ronnie McCall is charged with the selling or buying of children and coercion or enticement of a female.

Federal prosecutors charged McCall and his wife Connie in 2013 with selling their four children for the purpose of creating child porn and other sex-related charges. Prosecutors said their daughters were 5, 11, 14 and 16 at the time.

Prosecutors said the man who allegedly had sexual contact with the underage girls and filmed the encounters committed suicide.

Connie McCall pleaded guilty to one count of the selling or buying of children in 2014. She remains in custody pending her sentencing in April.

Ronnie McCall’s trial is scheduled to last up to a week.

Johnson City police arrested the McCalls in 2012 and charged them with felony child abuse and neglect. Investigators said the family lived in a mobile home and described the conditions inside the home as deplorable.
