MEADOWVIEW, VA (WJHL-TV) – A local elementary school got some good news today from a new local business.
Love’s Travel Stop is getting ready to open a brand new center in Meadowview, VA in June and presented nearby Meadowview Elementary School with a check for $10,000. The school’s principal told News Channel 11 that the money is greatly appreciated and the first thing they will do is by 2 way radios for every faculty member so the communications can be greatly improved and be done much faster.
Vice President of Communications for Love’s Jenny Love Meyer says that they are happy to help local schools, “There is a tremendous amount of needs that are in schools now-a-days so to be able to provide something that really is a need for the school is very satisfying.”
Love’s usually donates $2,000 to a local non-profit when they open a new center, but since there were several community concerns about the travel center being built that close to the school and all the extra traffic it would bring. So Love’s decided to make the donation $10,000 to try to help the school out as Meyer explains, ” Every time we open a location, we’ll contribute $2,000. There were some circumstances that led us to contribute a little bit more than that, but essentially we want to be able to provide a good relationship with the community where ever we are at nationwide. This is a good way to do it, make a check to a local non-profit.”
Progress is coming along well on the new center and a mid-June opening is expected according to Meyer, “We have a local general manager, and so he has been keeping us abreast of how it is going. We see i t is going to be smooth sailing from here on out, we’re excited about it and we think the community is going to look forward to us being here as well.”Copyright 2016 WJHL.
