Sullivan County has sent to a letter to Ballad Health and state health officials informing them of the county’s opposition to Ballad’s planned changes to trauma and pediatric care.
The letter was written by County Attorney Dan Street after the County Commission passed resolutions back in November objecting to the changes.
Attached to the letter are similar resolutions passed by other local governing bodies, letters opposing the changes, and more.
Several local governments, along with many members of the public, have voiced opposition to Ballad’s plan. That plan includes downgrading Holston Valley Medical Center from a level 1 to a level 3 trauma center, downgrading Bristol Regional from a level 2 to a level 3 trauma center, and closing Holston Valley’s neonatal intensive care unit.
