SEVIERVILLE (WATE) – The utility company insists brown water coming from the tap in the English Mountain community of Sevier County is safe to drink.
Elizabeth Keiser submitted a photo showing brown water in a glass. The community gets its water from wells run by East Sevier Utility District.
The company’s director of operations says the brown color is caused by sediments, including iron, kicked loose as part of the flushing process after a new system was installed to clean the water.
They say only one well and homes near the bottom of the mountain are affected.
