Authorities say a man wanted on felony charges will face even more charges after a police chase Saturday that ended when the suspect fled into Virginia.
The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office says 26-year-old Dakota Orfield was at the center of a pursuit that happened around noon Saturday.
According to Lt. Andy Seabolt, deputies were looking for another wanted suspect in the Bloomingdale community when they spotted Orfield behind the wheel of a vehicle. Seabolt says he was wanted by Kingsport Police for felony evading, driving on a suspended license, and other charges.
Deputies tried to pull him over but he took off. Seabolt says Orfield fled down Stone Drive, turned onto Lynn Garden Drive, then returned to Stone Drive.
During the pursuit, Orfield struck a Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office vehicle, causing minor damage, according to Seabolt. The deputy was not injured.
The chase ended near Bloomingdale when the suspect fled into Virginia.
The sheriff’s office says Orfield will face additional charges in connection with Saturday’s pursuit, including a charge of aggravated assault for taking aim at a sheriff’s office vehicle.
